All the Marvel Movies and Television Shows Coming Out in 2022
Stay on top of the ever-expanding universe.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe capped 2021 on a high note with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the final Spidey installment in the Tom Holland-led trilogy. But that wasn’t the only success from last year — Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Black Widow, WandaVision, and Loki were among the many Marvel films and series that received critical acclaim upon their debuts last year.
Luckily, Marvel has even more highly anticipated releases lined up for 2022. We’ll see the return of series such as What If…?, which aired its first season all the way back in 2019. Ms. Marvel introduces the MCU’s first Muslim teen superhero, Kamala Khan, while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever delivers the sequel to the groundbreaking 2018 film. There’s simply so much to look forward to. Ahead, find all of the Marvel movies and television shows hitting theaters and streaming services in 2022.
First on the list is Moon Knight, starring Oscar Issac, Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy, and Gaspard Ulliel. The six-episode series, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, follows an ex-mercenary who suffers from dissociative identity disorder, a mental health condition that is characterized by the existence of multiple personalities.
Moon Knight’s aliases include Steven Grant, a gift-shop employee who repeatedly experiences blackouts and memories of an alternate life. He soon realizes that he shares a body with Marc Spector, a former Marine who was once revived by the Egyptian ancient god, Khonshu. Faced with a “deadly mystery” involving the Egyptian gods, Steven/Marc is forced to traverse the complexity of their multiple identities. The series will stream exclusively on Disney+.
Release date: March 30, 2022
Morbius is a film based on the Marvel Comics character Dr. Michael Morbius, a biochemist who suffers from a rare blood disorder and, in an attempt to cure himself of his debilitating disease, accidentally transforms into a vampire-like villain. In the comics, Morbius is an adversary to Spider-Man, but there’s been no confirmation on whether or not we'll see Spidey square off with the anti-hero in the film.
Starring Jared Leto as the titular character, Morbius was produced by Sony Pictures in association with Marvel Studios, so it’s not technically in the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was originally slated for release back in July 2020, but due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, the release date has been pushed a number of times. Now, viewers can finally see it in theaters this spring.
Release date: April 1, 2022
Sam Raimi, director of the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, is the filmmaker behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is slated to hit theaters in late spring.
The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Dr. Nicodemus West. Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange casts a spell and now must confront the aftermath of opening the door to the alternate realities of the Multiverse.

On March 15, fans were finally introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Muslim teen superhero. Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American living in Jersey City, New Jersey, who harbors a deep fascination for superheroes, especially Captain Marvel. She leads an ordinary teenage existence, daydreaming about what life would be like if she had superpowers of her own — that is, until she discovers that she actually has them.
Actress Iman Vellani makes her on-screen debut as the titular character. According to Variety, Saagar Shaikh plays her older brother, Mohan Kupar and Zenobia Shroff her parents, Matt Lintz her best friend, and Aramis Knight, the Red Dagger. The six-episode series will stream exclusively on Disney+.

We unfortunately don’t have a trailer yet for Thor: Love and Thunder, the fifth installment following Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Endgame. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a sequel to the 2018 movie, Black Panther. It will further explore the world created in the first film, although it will be missing one iconic character. Following the death of actor Chadwick Boseman — who starred as T’Challa, the King of Wakanda — in August 2020, director Ryan Coogler has had to reimagine the events of this second installment.
Details of the plot have been kept under wraps, and we’re still months away from the release date. But we do know that most of the ensemble cast is returning, including Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Martin Freeman, and Winston Duke.

She-Hulk premieres this year on Disney+, although an official release date hasn’t been announced yet. Tatiana Maslany stars as Jennifer Walters, a lawyer and cousin to Bruce Banner, a.k.a. Hulk. After she receives a blood transfusion from her cousin, she gains Hulk-esque, superhuman abilities too.
Mark Ruffalo assumes his role as the monstrous superhero. Tim Roth, Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga, and Josh Segarra also join. According to Collider, the series will air in 10 30-minute episodes — and this leaked teaser trailer gives fans their first look at Maslany as the eponymous character.

The second season of What If…? is scheduled to premiere this year, although an official date is still unknown. Season one premiered in August 2021, so we can likely expect the second installment to drop sometime in late 2022.
Marvel Studios confirmed in November 2021 that The Watcher will return to the animated series, and that we’ll meet even more superheroes and realities in the Multiverse.

To close out the year, Marvel Studios will release The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special created, written, and directed by James Gunn. The special will tide fans over as they wait for the next Guardians of the Galaxy film to premiere sometime in 2023.
Like most Marvel projects, the specifics of the storyline are unknown, but we do know that the program will stream on Disney+.
